Silent movie star Norma Desmond longs for a return to the big screen having been left behind by the advent of "talkies". Joe Gillis is a struggling Hollywood writer who, through dramatic circumstances, encounters Norma Desmond. Their passionate and volatile relationship leads to unforeseen and tragic consequences.
