CMPS 221 - Winter 2015

Programming Fundamentals (5 Units)

Introduces the fundamentals of procedural programming. Topics include: data types, control structures, functions, arrays, and standard file I/O. The mechanics of compiling, linking, running, debugging and testing within a particular programming environment are covered. Ethical issues and a historical perspective of programming within the context of computer science as a discipline is given.

Prerequisite: MATH 85 or other satisfaction of the ELM requirement.

Please be advised that this section of CMPS 221 appears to be popular and the wait list is long and getting longer still.

If you are already registered,
1) ...and you want to ensure your attendance in the class this coming Winter, make sure you do not un-register with the hopes of getting back on. If you do un-register and re-register for the section, you will be added to the back end of the wait list.

2) Make sure you attend the first day of class. If you do not attend on the first day, your spot will be given up to the students on the wait list. If you simply cannot attend, but have full intentions to attend, please be sure to let me know ahead of time.

If you are on the wait list,
1) Be sure to attend on the first day of class. Students who have previously registered but did not show up on the first day will be dropped so that waitlisted students will get a chance to add to the class. Of course, you will be added in the order of the wait list. You are not guaranteed a spot on the class, but be sure to show up.

2) Please show up to class with a completed ADD slip. You must only have CMPS221/CRN 12192 on your add slip -- No other classes can be allowed on your ADD slip in this circumstance.
